Notice: Our Approach to Neuromodulators at RUMA
Many clinics price neuromodulator treatments by “area,” rather than by the actual amount of medication used. At RUMA, we take a more precise, individualized, and science-based approach.
We do not dose neuromodulators strictly according to pharmaceutical on-label unit standards because each neuromodulator brand unit of measurement is different and not interchangeable. Instead, our providers customize reconstitution to account for the true amount of active neurotoxin (150 kDa) delivered, measured in nanograms.
Our internal unit of measurement is customized insulin units, and patients are charged based on the exact amount of active medication used (per insulin unit), not by treatment area alone.
The neuromodulator selected — Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin® — is chosen based on the patient’s medical history, prior toxin response, anatomy, aesthetic goals, and personal preference.
Understanding the Differences Between Neuromodulators
While all FDA-approved neuromodulators work by relaxing targeted muscles, each has unique characteristics:
- Dysport®
Often provides a tighter, smoother feel with minimal residual movement, depending on placement and dosing. Dysport may be ideal for patients seeking enhanced longevity and a more firm, refined result. - Botox®
Delivers a balanced, moderately “tight” effect with reliable, long-lasting outcomes. Botox is an excellent option for patients wanting predictable, classic results with thoughtful customization. - Xeomin®
Tends to create a softer, more natural feel with less rigidity. Xeomin is often preferred by patients who want subtle muscle relaxation while maintaining expressive movement.
Precision Injection Philosophy
Our injectors use advanced, precision-based techniques to place neuromodulators directly into the target muscle, rather than surrounding tissues. From a clinical standpoint, only approximately 20–40% of a muscle’s neuromuscular junctions need to be affected to significantly reduce muscle contraction.
This range represents the optimal therapeutic window, allowing for noticeable softening of dynamic lines while preserving natural facial expression and movement.
Customized, Natural Results
Every neuromodulator treatment at RUMA is fully individualized. We prioritize anatomy-driven dosing, thoughtful placement, and conservative precision to achieve results that are natural, refined, and transformative — never frozen.
Our goal is not simply muscle relaxation, but harmonious facial balance, longevity of results, and a look that still feels like you.
